Unfortunately I’m stuck at Narita, which is 1-2 hours away from anything.
I did find a nice shabu shabu place thoug h. Easily one of the best meals of the last few weeks. Sliced duck is a new favorite

How was your time away?
Do you think you’ll see certain things in America, now you’ve seen how things are done elsewhere?

Are those ultra boosts? If so great choice - like walking on clouds

Ducati if I can make that happen soon enough. Otherwise it's a toss-up between flying and not going :/

Nah, Ross specials. But they've been super comfy, and my Achilles tendon thanks me for not bringing slip-on vans

It was great.
I don't want to live in America anymore. At least, not year-round

I don’t love either, but I’d take the sake.
Sochu, soju and calpis are my Japanese drinks of choice.

There are quite a few moved to Europe (mainly U.K., Germany, France) who have no wish to return back (one lass I know moved from the U.S. to France and got married (they live on the border with Switzerland now)).

Hmm. While I liked France... I didn't exactly love the French people I met.... Really hoping to visit Germany this year though

Lol. We have a saying about France. ‘France is a lovely place, only ruined by the French being there’. It’s a friendly banter we have. Lol.

Did you get any Tokyo Bananas? They are like banana flavored Twinkies but better. They don’t sell them in the US and go for 40-50 USD on ebay. They cost $14 or so at the airport you are at for a box of 10 or 12 The information desk can tell you which shops have them. Many Japanese people have a tradition of bringing home small gifts after travel and the airport stores are stacked with similar types of boxes.

Hmm. Never heard of 'em, but I do need to stop by a duty-free shop or two for some gifts...

If I had the money to buy residency, I’d probably live in Germany or Switzerland. But, I am not rich, passed 40 not too long ago, have an everyday business degree, and am unwilling to marry into it, so it might not happen.

Well if it makes you feel any better. Even if you moved to Europe and earned over a certain amount each year after paying taxes in your host country, you’d still have to pay taxes to America, even if you decided never to move back, unless you gave up U.S. citizenship.

I like to think that if I could afford to swing it (I’d effectively need to be independently wealthy, although I might not need a huge income to be happy), I wouldn’t care about the taxes. And the latter is an option many seem to pursue every year.

When I lived in Texas, every place was better than the us and I frequented Europe frequently . Now that I live in the PNW it’s tough to really want to live elsewhere.
